If you’ve stumbled upon this page, you’ll probably be wondering who’s behind this website and why he’s decided to carve out his own feeble corner of the internet.
My name’s Colin (not great, didn’t choose it myself and it’s too late to change it now, would merely cause confusion) Brockhurst (again, bit ‘country bumpkin’: means ‘badger wood’, you know). I was born in 1972 and was an only child, which might account for my selfish streak and periods of painful self-absorption. I live deep in the leafy countryside of West Sussex (that’s Sussex-England, American friends) and my favourite flavour of instant noodles is chicken chow mein.
I have a girlfriend called Katie, who is American, and a little girl called Emily. Both are terrific people, and very patient.
Following several months of unemployment after being made redundant from a job I was at for over ten years (am I bitter?), I now work for Aspinal of London. While not being able to indulge my love for graphic design there, the fanzine I design and co-edit in my spare time, Vworp Vworp! , more than makes up for it.
And if, after viewing my portfolio, you’re thinking I’m unhealthily obsessed with the popular television series Doctor Who, you’re probably onto something. I like an awful lot of other television, films and books as well, particularly if it came out before I was born, but can’t help wondering how much better they’d be with TARDISes and Quarks in them. This is wrong and a side of my nature I’ve struggled to come to terms with. I still hide my copy of Doctor Who Magazine in Goose Rape Monthly, for example.
I also like writing, as you’ll find on this site, although I’ll never claim to be very good at it. I’ll be posting a number of articles and stories I wrote for the acclaimed fanzine (yes, another Doctor Who fanzine) I edited, Circus, and some new stuff. I’m eager for feedback and discussion, so please take the time to post comments.
If you’d like to email me, I can be contacted at colin . brockhurst @ gmail . com (without the spaces, of course), or via the contact link above.
Thanks for dropping by.
